Celebrating Rabindranath Tagore’s Birthday.
The birthday of the man who gave the nation its National anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana‘ is today. He inspired the nation with his writings as he was an eminent poet, visual artist, novelist, composer, and playwright. Rabindranath Tagore is the writer of the very famous book ‘Gitanjali‘. His birthday is of great significance and is celebrated all over the nation, especially amongst the Bengali community. Cultural programs and events including dances, drama, writing, poetry recitation, etc. Schools, colleges, and universities in West Bengal and around the world to honor him. The day is elaborately celebrated at Santiniketan in Birbhum in West Bengal, mainly in the Visva-Bharati University which was established by the Nobel Prize winner himself. Rabindranath Tagore was born in Calcutta on 7 May, 1861. He started to write poetry when he was 8 and by the age of 16, he was publishing his work with his own name. He is one of the biggest literary figures in India and the first Asian laureate to win the prestigious Nobel Prize in 1913.
